As the title says. Happy New Year!
I don't know about you but our Christmas was different to how we'd hoped it would be - but lovely, nonetheless. And New Year was quiet - the manse heathen watched TV and the dog and I went to our respective beds. It felt very indulgent being tucked in warm and cosy and reading a good book when the New Year clocked in.
Who knows what each year will bring, who knows what each day will bring! I often start the day with a plan, let's call it 'Plan A' and by the end of the day I'll be on 'Plan ?' It's said that God laughs when we make plans - it's getting to the stage that I laugh with God.
No matter what the day brings, there is always something to be thankful for. Oh really? Yes, really. At the end of the day, deliberately look back for the good things. Sometimes it might be that quiet five minutes you had to yourself on your coffee break, or the brief flash of sunshine behind the clouds ... there will be something to remind you that there is hope even in the darkest of days.
May you find hope in dark times. May this year be better than you expect it to be. May you always find a reason for giving thanks at the end of the day.
